Any change in our physical appearance might suggest something else. Take for example, sudden weight loss in children. Now let us talk about diseases that can cause sudden weight loss. First is dengue fever. This mosquito-caused disease may lead to excessive blood loss. In return, certain body parts diminish in size because there is insufficient supply of oxygen and nutrients. Second is cancer. Experts say that weight loss can be secondary symptom particularly in ovarian, pancreatic and hematologic cancers. Third is gastrointestinal ailments including peptic ulcer.
